In a manual defrost freezer, moisture from the air and stored food freezes directly onto the cold interior walls. Over weeks this ice layer thickens, eats into storage space and eventually has to be melted by switching the freezer off and letting it thaw.
A no frost freezer hides the cooling coil behind a panel and uses a fan to push cold air around the compartment instead of cooling the walls directly. Every few hours a small defrost heater briefly warms the hidden coil, melts any frost that has formed there and drains the water away, all without you doing anything.

It is Dawlance’s only no frost vertical freezer, an upright, self-defrosting unit. “CVT” and the price gap over the standard vertical models point to it being a more feature-rich, premium unit; check the specification sheet or ask the dealer for the exact drawer count and interior layout.
At Rs 202,600, it costs Rs 91,439 more than the priciest standard vertical freezer. You are paying for the fan, automatic defrost heater and the electronics that go with them, not extra size — Dawlance doesn’t publish a litre capacity for it.
A standard vertical freezer, from Rs 102,176, stands upright with shelves like a fridge but still needs occasional manual defrosting. The no frost vertical freezer adds a fan and automatic defrost on top of the same upright layout, for a large jump in price.
The fan and defrost heater draw some extra power compared with a manual defrost freezer of similar size, but you avoid the energy lost each time a heavily iced-up freezer has to work harder to stay cold.
