In a normal direct cool fridge, the cooling coil sits inside the freezer wall. Moisture from food and warm air freezes onto it, and over a few weeks a layer of ice builds up that you have to melt by switching the fridge off.
A no frost refrigerator hides the coil behind a panel and uses a fan to blow cold air through both the freezer and the fridge. Every few hours a small defrost heater warms the coil for a short time, melts any frost and drains the water away. The result:
| Fridge type | Models | Finishes | From | Up to |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single Door fridge | 4 | 6 | Rs 39,200 | Rs 52,200 |
| Double Door fridge | 10 | 123 | Rs 54,999 | Rs 139,600 |
| Multi Door fridge | 1 | 2 | Rs 254,699 | Rs 254,699 |
| No Frost fridge | 6 | 11 | Rs 193,000 | Rs 372,000 |
The cheapest no frost fridge costs Rs 138,001 more than the cheapest double door fridge. You are paying for no defrosting, inverter cooling, a steel or glass front and, on PrimaLine models, a large side-by-side or French door layout. For a lower starting price, compare direct cool double door models and check their published storage volume separately.
Dawlance no frost fridges cost Rs 193,000 to Rs 372,000. The cheapest is the DTM-7650 in Inox, and the most expensive is the DTM 8365.
A no frost fridge keeps its cooling coil hidden behind a panel and uses a fan to blow cold air through the fridge and freezer. A small heater melts any frost on the coil automatically, so ice never builds up and you never have to defrost it by hand.
Yes. All 11 no frost fridges on Dawlance’s listing have “Inv” in their name, which is how Dawlance marks inverter models.
PrimaLine is the label Dawlance gives its premium no frost range on its listing. It covers the DTM-7650, DSS-9055, DMD 7950, DMD 9060, DTM 8365. The DMD 7951 is listed without the PrimaLine label.
Inox means stainless steel. Inox finishes have a stainless steel door front, while Glass Door finishes have a glass front. On Dawlance no frost fridges the glass version costs Rs 5,300 to Rs 27,000 more than the Inox version of the same model.
IOT stands for Internet of Things. Dawlance uses it to mark its connected, app-enabled version. Check the specification sheet to see exactly which features the app controls.
No frost is more convenient because it never needs defrosting and cools more evenly, but it costs far more and uses a little extra power for the fan. A direct cool double door fridge starts at Rs 54,999 and gives more space for the money if you don’t mind defrosting now and then.
A side-by-side fridge has two tall doors, with the freezer on one side and the fridge on the other. A French door fridge has two doors for the fridge at the top and a freezer drawer or door below, so the fresh food section is at eye level.
Dawlance does not show the capacity of its no frost fridges on its listing, so we don’t list it. Ask the dealer or check the specification sheet for the exact size in litres or cubic feet.
The fan and automatic defrost heater use some extra power compared with a direct cool fridge of the same size. All Dawlance no frost models are inverter, which helps reduce overall electricity use.
